Mason is One!

One of my oldest and closest friends, Aubrey, celebrated her son Mason's first birthday.  Unfortunately, they had to postpone it a week due to the weather last weekend!

Mason is about 7 weeks older than Georgia, so it is always fun to get them together.  It is also great to talk to Aubrey about "Mom Stuff" since we both have babies at the same stage.

Aubrey did an amazing job planning Mason's Sesame Street themed party.  She thought of every detail, she even made the cake and cupcakes!

We had so much fun, and Georgia had a great time socializing with everyone!  I can't believe our babies are turning one.  There is so much to look forward to.  I am excited to watch their friendship grow through the years, they are going to be great friends!

Harper turns 4!

My niece, Harper, celebrated her 4th birthday at the end of January.  Everyone is always in anticipation every year to see what Leslie is going to do because she is quite the party planner!  Harper is at a stage where she loves to draw and paint, so Leslie decided to have her party at Van Grow Art Studio in Fort Worth.  It is such a great place for parties.  Not only did the kids have a blast going to all of the different art stations so did the adults.  There was a bead table for kids to bead necklaces, a hat center where kids decorated foam crowns, two paint stations, and a puppet station for kids to create their own hand puppets.  They also had a separate party room where we had cake and opened presents.  What a fun day of celebrating Sweet Harper.

Another delicious and super cute Kathy Martinez cake!
It was designed based on her invitation.

Snowed In...

The weather has been absolutely crazy these past couple of weeks.  We have gone from single digit wind chills to a bright, sunny 65 degree day....

The first week of February we had basically a week off due to weather conditions.  Which meant we had a week of being forced to stay at home.  It was so nice to just relax and have a chance to catch up on things around the house.  On weekends, we are normally running around and are never home, so this gave us an excuse :)

I felt like I got so much accomplished in the week off.  I finally did some laundry that had been in the hamper for far too long, practiced decorating cupcakes, officially baby proofed the house, and as written about in the previous post, bought a new car.

Not only was the weather crazy cold, we also got over 5 inches of snow that Friday.  I couldn't miss an opportunity to take Georgia out into the snow, so we bundled her up and took out into the backyard.  It took her a couple of minutes to adjust to the freezing cold temperatures, but once she did she LOVED it!  Here are a few pics from when we took her out.

All bundled up and ready to go outside!
I love her expression in this picture

Crazy!

We have been off of school/work for 4 days now...and we are starting to go a little crazy!  Crazy enough to buy a new car!

Chris's lease was going to be up in 6 months and we had been talking for awhile about what we wanted to do.  We had come to the conclusion that we definitely did not want to keep the CR-V, but we were going back and forth on what type of vehicle we wanted to get.  With Chris's new job being in Dallas, I of course wanted to get a car with good gas mileage.  Chris on the other hand was convinced he needed to get a truck!  Most of you know Chris's history with trucks...flipping my step-dad's huge truck two weeks before the wedding with me and his friends from England in the truck headed home from the airport!

Monday night, Chris decided to look on the dealership's website to see if there was anything he wanted just in case the dealer would let us out of our lease early without any penalties or rollover.  Chris found two cars he liked, and at that point made up his mind that we were getting a new car!

He called the dealership on Wednesday and explained the issue with his lease.  They said they got people out of their leases all of the time.  So, in the ridiculous-degree weather, we dropped Georgia off at my mom's house and headed out for our nearly 2-hour trek to the dealership.  The roads were definitely bad, but Chris did a great job of getting us there!  Once we got there, the place was absolutely deserted.  There were no other customers there, which made for a great selling-point from our end.

We immediately test drove two cars, and within 20 minutes had decided we were going to purchase the Acura TSX.  Chris fell in love with its' navigation system and all of its' other bells and whistles.  The dealership was ready to shut down early for the day and ended up giving us a great deal just to get us out of there.  For once, we stuck to our guns and didn't budge from the number we were looking to stay at!

We are both so excited about the new car, not to mention the fact that I won with the gas efficient car rather than the truck he was looking at :)

It was kind of sad to watch the CR-V drive off.  It was the first big purchase we made as a couple.  I remember us driving it home from the dealership so excited to show everyone!  Luckily I snapped a quick picture before they took it away :(

I haven't had a chance to take any pictures of the new car due to this insane weather, but here are some pictures from the dealership website.

10 months old!

Well, I think I am officially caught up....

Here are Georgia's 10 month pictures.  I didn't realize until after we had already changed her clothes that we didn't quite get all of the squash from dinner off of her face.  Oh well, nothing a little photoshop can't fix :) (thanks in advance Dad!)

Love this pic because it shows how much hair she has gotten!

Apparently something was really funny!
