Bedrest

I have been terrible about blogging lately, mostly due to being completely overwhelmed with getting ready to be on maternity leave. There has been lots going on including baby showers and preparing the nursery along with signs of pre-eclampysia - hence the bed rest. With much coaxing and basically force from my doctor, I am officially on bedrest for the week. My blood pressure has been a concern for a couple of weeks and my swelling is out of control. My mom calls me Fiona (off of Shrek), and the sad thing is it is not that far off :( I went to my dad's open house at one of his offices a couple of weeks ago, and he took one look at me and had me get my blood pressure taken. It was 158 over 92 which is pretty high for me. I also had traces of protein in my urine. I had to bargain with both my dad and my doctor to let me return to work. I had to promise to stay off my feet as much as possible and I had to get my blood pressure checked my the school nurse daily and report back. I think a lot of my blood pressure issues stem from the stress at work, which is why my doctor wanted me to go ahead and start my leave early. I had a sonogram at 35 weeks, and Georgia was already 7 lbs 3 oz and 19 1/2 inches long! She is measuring about three weeks ahead and I am at the top range of normal for the amount of fluid I should have. The very top of normal is 25 and I am a 24, hence the huge belly! Because of Georgia's size and my blood pressure issues, my doctor is planning on inducing the week of Spring Break if she doesn't come sooner! She is either thinking Wednesday (St. Patrick's Day!) or Sunday, March 21st. At my last appointment I was already 1 cm dilated, so I am making progress. I have another appointment tomorrow. I can't wait to see if I have dilated! I will keep you posted!
